More about me..

More about me..

Hello again and welcome to my website and blog. When I started my business I was just planning on using social media to post about decluttering but after a couple of months I realised I wanted to write more, to reach the people that aren't fans of social media and to offer more that a short paragraph and a photo.

So, here we are, my first blog post! My name is Aimee, I am soon to be 38, married to a wonderful man who is also the father to my two precious miracle babies (shout out to those also with fertility issues and PCOS - its a tough journey to be on!) and I live in Kettering, Northants. Unfortunately I do not have a career as such, but I am an excellent advocate for my son Isaac. He is nearly 9 and was diagnosed with CLN2 Batten Disease almost 4 years ago. The day he was diagnosed our world fell apart and its taken since then and a lot of therapy to feel like I am getting back onto my feet.

In the last 12 months or so I have been feeling like there is something missing in my life. I think perhaps since Isaac is now well into the journey, all the initial testing has happened, his treatment is now out of its trial stage so life has calmed a little. I am also coming to the end of 3 years of therapy which has helped me more than I can put into words, who knew it took so much work to try and heal the childhood memories and traumas, come to terms with the loss of friends since Isaac's diagnosis and learning to accept myself and the cards I've been dealt in life!

Talking of skills, I'm also pretty good at declutter and organising, more so other peoples homes I must admit! I have so far worked with a few clients and have loved every second of the process, creating them a calm, functional and organised home has been so rewarding. I know all too well the struggle of living in a home that feel so overwhelming, around 12 months ago we started to have more equipment in the home for Isaac, as well as more medical supplies and medicines. These things didn't all have a home, plus I was beginning to feel like I was sinking under toys Isaac could no longer play with, toys and clothes Eva (my daughter) no longer had a use for, not to mention all the 'stuff' I have accumulated of the years. I felt stressed, overwhelmed and panicked about the state of my home. One day I decided enough was enough and I needed to get organised again, years ago I used to pride myself in my home. I liked it clean, tidy and functional, I wanted it to feel manageable again. So I got to work! It has taken a while to get to the place I am now and I still have some possessions still to sell and donate but everything else has a home and my home is much more manageable now.

I realised this process and the result gave me purpose and a feeling of joy. Having a home that is functioning well and easy to tidy and clean makes all the difference to my mental health. I love to watch the decluttering programs on TV and I knew there were people out there that needed help so I decided to offer my skills to others! AS I said I have helped a few people so far and I hope to help many more in the future.

Do I have a certificate on how to declutter? Have I done a course on decluttering and organising? No I'm afraid not BUT I have experience, I work well with others and I have empathy in tough situations. I have patience (My kids may say different!) and wouldn't force people to part with possessions but I will challenge people if we cant find a home for them! I have great organisational skills and I love to help. I believe that is all you need!

So, that is a little bit more about me and why I founded Clutter to Calm with Aimee.

Thank you for visiting

Much Love, Aimee
